Clovis Community College’s definition of distance courses aligns with the federal definition. Distance education means 75 percent or more of the course or program uses certain technologies to deliver instruction to students who are separated from the instructor and to support regular and substantive interaction between the students and the instructor. The interaction may be synchronous (student and instructor are in communication at the same time) or asynchronous. The technologies may include
In order to verify student identity in a distance course, CCC requires all online and live online courses to include a minimum of one proctored exam or assignment, which ensures the student identify before completion of the assignment. All CCC 2-year distance education programs are considered eligible FSA programs if they have been accredited by an accrediting agency recognized by the Department for accreditation of distance education. CCC Certificate of Completion distance education programs that lead to gainful employment are also considered eligible FSA programs.
