On June 11, 2026, Cannon Air Force Base (CAFB) and Clovis Community College (CCC) celebrated a monumental milestone for Eastern New Mexico with the official ribbon-cutting of the new Department of War STARBASE facility. This premier, hands-on academy is designed to immerse local fifth graders in high-tech STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math) curricula, exploring cutting-edge concepts like robotics, flight physics, and computer-aided design. By bridging CAFB’s operational expertise with CCC’s educational resources, this dynamic partnership provides a powerful launchpad for regional youth, inspiring the next generation of innovators and high-flying leaders right here in our community.
