Proctoring Services
Effective Fall 2020 semester, Clovis Community College is switching our proctoring services to Respondus, from ProctorU. We are adapting to an ever-changing student and instruction structure by offering this new service.
LockDown Browser is a custom browser that locks down the testing environment in Canvas. When students use LockDown Browser to access a quiz, they are unable to print, copy, visit other websites, access other applications, or close a quiz until it is submitted for grading.
Lockdown Browser Software to download: (Specific to CCC ONLY) https://download.respondus.com/lockdown/download.php?id=973655881
Respondus Monitor, a webcam feature for LockDown Browser that records students during online quizzes that are expected to be proctored. Respondus Monitor creates a virtual proctoring environment for students to take quizzes and exams from home. When this feature is enabled for a quiz, students are required to use a webcam and microphone with LockDown Browser. After the quiz is complete, an instructor can review details of the assessment, even the recorded video.
Note: Your student will need a webcam. Please check with your Division Chair, how students will be obtaining a webcam, if you are using the Monitor. Using Monitor is optional.
Alternate options for students that don’t have a compatible device:
When LockDown Browser is used with “Instructor Live Proctoring,” the instructor watches students remotely during an online test. This feature requires the use of a video conference system such as Zoom or MS Teams and is intended for small classes where the instructor can view all students on the screen at once.
Use this student guide for your own knowledge as well as student support.
If you need to schedule a one-on-one training, or have questions regarding Respondus, please submit a Helpdesk Ticket.
