My name is J. Scott Richeson and I'm the new sociology & criminal justice instructor here at Clovis Community College. I have developed and taught a large variety of courses over the years, ranging from information technology, sociological theory, a seminar on capital punishment, social problems, and introductory sociology. My favorite courses to teach have been introductory sociology. I currently am teaching online courses in terrorism, organized crime, and criminology. I teach three ground sections of introductory sociology. My personal interests include biking and the Japanese language. I am an avid cyclist. I have studied Japanese for several semesters, lived in Nishinomiya Japan for two years, and speak the language conversationally.
I earned undergraduate degrees in sociology, political science, and criminal justice from Washington State University (1992). My master's degree is from the University of Chicago in the social sciences, with primary emphasis in sociology (1995). My doctoral work is from the University at Albany in criminal justice. My dissertation there involved analysis of observational data on the police, which I was involved in collecting during the summer of 1998.
