The College-Level Examination Program (CLEP) provides students with the opportunity to earn college credit through examination, saving valuable time and resources in pursuit of their degree.
By taking CLEP exams, students can demonstrate their proficiency in a wide range of subjects and potentially earn credit for courses that would otherwise require significant time and financial investments. This approach offers a cost-effective and time-efficient means of advancing one's academic career and achieving one's goals.
Clovis Community College is a designated Public CLEP Testing Center. This means anyone, including non-CCC students, can take CLEP exams at CCC. You may take any CLEP exam, but each college/university has its own policy on which tests/scores they accept for credit. See CCC's Credit Policy here.
When taking tests for another college or university, we highly recommend that students contact the institution to verify which test and which scores will be accepted.
You must create an account at the CLEP website and purchase your exam, which will generate a voucher (ticket ID). After purchasing a voucher, contact the Testing Center at 575.769.4125 or via email at testing@clovis.edu to schedule an appointment for your exam from the dates listed here. Keep in mind, CLEP testing is available on-campus every other Friday of the month.
You must provide a valid, government-issued photo ID and the voucher/ticket ID during exam check-in.
Your score is available to you as soon as you take the exam, except for College Composition and Spanish with Writing, which are available online via My Account 2–3 weeks after exam day.
You can send your scores to two institutions for free when you register for your CLEP exam.
If you want to send your scores to more than two institutions, you must complete a transcript request for each institution and pay the $20 fee for each transcript ordered by logging into My Account; from the My CLEP Account menu, select Request a Transcript.
Acceptable forms of payment for transcript orders are debit or credit cards. Transcript orders are nonrefundable and can't be canceled or changed.
It’s important to note that CLEP scores for exams taken on or after July 1, 2022, will be available for 10 years from the test date. Scores for CLEP exams taken on or before June 30, 2022, will be available for 20 years from the test date.
CLEP requires a 90-day waiting period between retake attempts. If students retake the exam before the 90-day waiting period is over, it will result in the invalidation of your administration, cancellation of your score, and forfeiture of any test fees.
